Service providers using Pettyworx to find and complete jobs

As a Pettyworx provider, you are an independent service professional. Pettyworx is not your employer — we are a platform that helps you find clients, manage jobs, and get paid. These terms explain how that relationship works and what we expect from each other.

01You are an independent provider

This is important: you are not an employee of Pettyworx.

  • You set your own schedule — go online when you want to work
  • You choose which jobs to accept
  • You are responsible for the quality of your work
  • You are responsible for your own tax obligations — Pettyworx does not deduct PAYE on your behalf
  • You are responsible for any licences or certifications your trade requires

02Who can register as a provider

  • You must be 18 years old or older
  • You must have a valid South African ID or valid work permit
  • You must have a South African mobile number and bank account
  • You must complete identity verification before accepting any paid jobs

03Verification — what we check and why

Before you can accept jobs, we verify:

  • Your identity (ID document + selfie)
  • Your bank account (so we can pay you)

For some job categories, we may also check professional certifications or trade licences. Verification is about trust — clients need to know the person coming to their home is who they say they are.

You can continue setting up your profile while verification is in progress, but you cannot accept paid jobs until it is complete.

04How jobs work

  1. Go online — switch yourself online when you are ready to work
  2. Receive an offer — when a nearby job matches your skills, you get an offer with job details, estimated pay and a countdown timer
  3. Accept or decline — always your choice. Frequent declines without going offline may affect your standing
  4. Do the job — work to the agreed scope and standard
  5. Complete in the app — mark the job done and upload any required photos
  6. Get paid — payment is released after the client confirms, or after a reasonable period if they do not respond

05Your earnings and payments

  • Your earnings are shown clearly before you accept a job
  • Pettyworx charges a platform fee on each job — deducted before you are paid and always shown upfront
  • Payments are made to your registered bank account on the schedule shown in the app
  • Do not arrange payment outside the platform. Doing so removes the client’s payment protection — and yours — and is a violation of these terms

06What we expect from you

  • Show up. If you accept a job, be there. Frequent last-minute cancellations affect real people
  • Do good work. Your reputation is built job by job
  • Be professional. Treat clients, their homes and their families with respect
  • Be honest. Accurate profiles, honest job descriptions, no fake reviews
  • Communicate. If something comes up, tell the client and update the app
  • Stay safe. Do not take jobs that put you in danger

07Client-brought (protected) jobs

Sometimes a client will invite you directly — they found you themselves and want to use Pettyworx for the job structure, payment and protection.

  • You will receive an invite notification
  • You can review the job details, price and milestones before accepting
  • Once you accept, the same rules apply as any other job on the platform

08What happens if something goes wrong

  1. Talk it out with the client in the app
  2. Request a change to the job scope if circumstances changed
  3. Contact Pettyworx support — we will review the evidence and help mediate
  4. Small Claims Court or independent arbitration as a last resort

09Ratings and account standing

Clients rate you after every job. Your rating affects how prominently you appear to new clients.

  • One bad review does not ruin your standing — we are fair
  • If you think a review is false or unfair, you can flag it for review
  • Consistently low ratings or substantiated complaints may result in account restrictions

10Tax obligations

As an independent provider, you are responsible for:

  • Declaring your Pettyworx income to SARS
  • Paying any income tax or provisional tax due
  • Registering for VAT if your annual earnings exceed the VAT threshold

We can provide a summary of your annual earnings through the app to help with your tax return.

11Insurance

Pettyworx does not provide liability insurance on your behalf. We strongly recommend appropriate insurance for your trade. For some categories, clients may ask to see proof of insurance before confirming a job.

12Changes to these terms

If we make changes that affect your rights, we will notify you in the app before they take effect.

13Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
